 Enter the magical world of Music with your child, from birth to 5 years they are never too young to start to enjoy Music. Watch them grow with confidence, enhance their social skills & build self esteem as they learn about music, rhythm, sound, percussion instruments, singing, dancing, actions, counting, colours, balance, posture, co-ordination & so much more.

At Monster Music we pride ourselves on offering an informal, fun, safe environment for your children to learn.

About Us? It's more about YOU & Your Child/children's Learning

Monster Music has taken advice from some teaching professionals in Early years as we are keen to aid young pre-schoolers and their parents with Early learning.

It is recognised that children absorb a huge amount of information in this very early stage of life and therefore it is important to deliver the foundations in a positive and embedding way in order to build on this later in life.

Monster Music's team of staff have a combined total of 40+ years experience of working with children in various aspects which include, teaching, dancing, caring for & fostering, entertaining, as well as each of us having 8 children, 7 grand-children and 4 great grandchildren between us!!!

 

The department of Education has issued a statutory Framework and at Monster Music we try to incorporate as much of this Early Years Foundation Stage as possible. The framework sets out the legal requirements for the care of young children relating to learning, development and welfare. The EYFS framework sets the UK standards for learning, development and care for children from birth to five, The curriculum is built around the following 4 principles;

1. A unique child

We recognise that all children are different, but should be treated equally. Positive relationships & good communication are vital. Children need to learn about risks & safety, how to make good choices & how to stick to boundaries. This is done through a 2 way channel, when being spoken to they listen, when asked to do or not to do they follow instruction & likewise through showing respect to our children & speaking on their level (or through song or rhyme).

2. Positive relationships

The theme is about children learning to manage their feelings & build relationships. (Mostly through song, actions, rhyme, play & dance). We respect all kinds of families & aim to develop a positive 2 way relationship with parents. We will support, listen & work with the children & parents alike.

3. Enabling environments

We try to keep our sessions interesting & engaging, likewise we understand the importance of repitition to enable learning. Parents are always encouraged to engage with their child(ren) & join in with the songs & actions. With dance sessions parents will be encouraged to quietly wait & watch from the sidelines to allow their child to gain independance. All equipment is regularly cleaned & checked for safety before the start of each session. This is a safe environment where children are encouraged to enjoy, be loud & express themselves, as well as calm time ready for home!

4. Learning & development

Monster Music focuses on ensuring young children learn through play, singing, dance, mime & exploration, with support for each individual. We encourage children to develop imagination, we make every attempt to develop children's creative & critical thinking, balancing the need for both the children & adults to lead the learning.

We try to work towards the following specific goals to help us all work within the framework:

  • Personal, Social & emotional development, helping to build confidence, concentration, independence & respect.
  • Communication, language & literacy, developing speaking & listening skills & beginning to read & write. (All of which can be attained & assisted through, actions, song, music & movement as with reading or writing children come to identify with the creative elements of their world when put together with picture & words in a book for example)
  • Problem Solving, reasoning & numeracy, focusing on number work through puppet, props & songs.
  • Knowledge & understanding of the world, helping children to investigate & think about their place in the world.
  • Physical development - relating to physical skills, co-ordination, balance & posture & lots of exercise!!!!
  • Welfare - Childrens protection policy

 

The Beauty of focusing on the EYFS within the music & dance groups which we deliver is that we are able to structure such learning without the children even being aware, to them it's just .................. Monsterous Amounts of Fun!!!!!!!!!
